Clackamas Workforce Partnership Recipient of Kaiser Permanente Community Fund Award to Focus on Equity

Clackamas Workforce Partnership (CWP) has been awarded $50,000 by the Kaiser Permanente Community Fund (KPCF) at Northwest Health Foundation. The capacity-building grant, set to begin in early spring 2016, will fund the launch of a Workforce Equity Coalition and the development of an equity lens. CWP recognizes that persons of color and other underrepresented populations in Clackamas County are often disproportionately impacted by poverty and face a variety of barriers to employment. To more successfully address these barriers, CWP looks to ensure that these populations have a significant role in guiding program development and investments by forming the Workforce Equity Coalition. The Coalition’s purpose would be to develop and apply an equity lens for CWP decisions and processes; and to define and support workforce-related action items that address social determinants of health, such as accessing affordable childcare, housing, and transportation. These goals clearly align with KPCF’s areas of focus and values as an organization and CWP looks forward to the partnership with KPCF as this project moves forward.

“The voice of the people served in our system is essential to meeting our community goals. These resources will help us establish a structured way to hear from our most vulnerable populations and will only enhance our programming and system as a whole,” said CWP Executive Director Bridget Dazey.

Other grant partners will be vital in reaching out to and partnering with the community. This includes Clackamas County Health, Housing and Human Services, Clackamas Community College, Clackamas Education Service District, Department of Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation and Child Welfare and Self Sufficiency Programs, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, Northwest Family Services, the Oregon Employment Department, and TriMet.
